Jakarta - A number of visually impaired individuals from Kartunet Community participated in an iftar gathering held on Saturday, August 20, 2011, from 1:30 PM to 7:30 PM, at the Detik.com office, Jl. Warung Buncit Raya, Aldevco Octagon Building - 2nd Floor, South Jakarta.

This event, themed “Spirit of Ramadan, Solidarity Among Us,” was organized to introduce KCI to the public and mass media, as well as to commemorate Indonesia's 66th Independence Day. During the sharing session, the KCI team, represented by Dimas as chairman, explained the history of creating the www.kartunet.com website along with its ups and downs, the formation of Kartunet Community Indonesia, as well as Kartunet's goals, functions, and aspirations.

Mr. Tjatur, representing Detik.com, shared several tips to make Kartunet more widely known in the online world. Bloggers from @blogdetik and Donny B.U. from @internetsehat, who were also present at the event, provided very useful input for Kartunet. After the sharing, the event continued with entertainment in the form of a magic show by a visually impaired person, Yudi Hermawan.

Next, a Top Speed audiogame competition, a blind racing game, and a Rubik's Cube challenge were held, participated in by both visually impaired and sighted individuals. Leading up to the breaking of the fast, there was a recitation of holy Quranic verses, a Tausiyah (Islamic sermon), and a prayer led by KCI administrators from Pontianak, Muhammad Hasbi and Ahmad Fauzi.

At the end of the event, all participants engaged in a communal iftar. KCI extended its gratitude to Detik.com, represented by Mr. Tjatur, Karman Winarta, and Karel Anderson, for providing the venue and various facilities to support the event. We also thanked Donny B.U. for providing live streaming facilities throughout the event. Finally, we also expressed our thanks to Ms.

Ajeng, the volunteers, and all parties who helped organize this event. Hopefully, this event marks the beginning of a good collaboration and can serve as a means to socialize disability issues. (AP)
