I Desire I want to utter a word But my tongue is bound, speechless Stumbling with the touch of the wind That alights on the tips of your hair, the curve of your waist, and the scent of your body, my dear Cahya, I want to love you simply Just as you are, without a humble facade But dusk slapped my face Misty with dust Too late I reached When anxious moments lingered My love fell for your light Lost within your heart Your joy unfurled in the arc of a rainbow On a solemn night In that rippling laughter You are serene there Like a thicket of memories A faint glimmer of an angel Offer me worldly wine In the remainder of my night And your long wait Promise me, you will not fade, nor be replaced For all time, like the eagle's wingbeat May 14, 2016.

Loving You The clamor of feelings, an unfading elegy of desire within the heart, plucking silent strings, etching harmony, yet unable to comprehend. The fragrant scent of ylang-ylang, as sturdy as an upright pine, a bird of paradise perched on a twilight branch, singing a song of a single soul. Is it love, with its very presence? I touched it, danced with it but why, when my body was adrift, did I love, as sincerely as the sun its dim light, its form vanished in the bends of sorrow Blood slowly seeped from the core of anguish's torment from heart, soul, to pores, tearing sharply at the chest The estuary of true love that cannot reach the shore Tears from my eyelids froze, framing a silent river accompanying your serene embrace that has passed “I will make you happy, I am someone who loves you.” those were the words that seemed to lose strength, waiting for sorrow to become a myth, scorched, eroded, vanished.

My mouth was sealed, waiting for the moon to depart My thoughts fell silent, the wind brought the night's chill, setting on the clear veranda; a bottle of arrack flooded my throat as I drank, one by one, the stars of the firmament In silence, during deep sleep, I wished to pin a frangipani in your ear, caressing your beauty with strings of hopeful verses, wishing you would always be there, cheerfully smiling, kissing memories, if only circumstances and differences had not separated us, March 2016
