I’M (Internet Marketing) BRAVE An Initiative to Address the Challenges Faced by People with Disabilities in the 'Modern Era'   JAKARTA – Law No. 8 of 2016 has shifted the paradigm, mandating that people with disabilities receive equal opportunities for self-development through independence as dignified human beings, from a human rights perspective, as stipulated in Article 3 of the Disability Law.   In line with this, PermataBank has fulfilled this mandate by providing opportunities for visually impaired individuals to work as telesales agents since 2010, and currently employs 18 staff with disabilities. In terms of performance, their achievements are on par with their colleagues, and in some work areas, these visually impaired employees even excel.   Not stopping there, in 2017, PermataHatiCSR, as the driver of the company's social responsibility, initiated a new program specifically for people with disabilities, namely BRAVE (Because eveRyone is Able & CreatiVE), which serves as a platform for gathering and sharing among disability advocates and communities, represented by Precious One and Fingertalk (hearing impaired), Karya Tunanetra or KartuNet (visually impaired), Balai Besar Rehabilitasi Vokasional Bina Daksa – KEMENSOS (physically disabled), and the Indonesian Association of Persons with Disabilities (PPDI).   This participatory program continued to roll out in early 2018, synergizing with KartuNet in organizing the Online Course I’M (Internet Marketing) BRAVE, which was launched concurrently with Braille Day in January and KartuNet's 12th anniversary. In addition to the launch and demo of the I’M BRAVE platform, an inspiring talk show themed “Dare to Succeed Online” was also held, featuring expert speakers in their fields. This theme was chosen due to the difficulty in accessing existing learning resources, as current courses/tutorials are designed for the general public and are not/less accessible for people with disabilities, especially the visually impaired, who number an estimated 3.5 million in Indonesia. Furthermore, the cost of Internet Marketing courses is quite high, making it burdensome for newcomers to this field.   Internet Marketing presents a highly potential opportunity today, where anyone can earn income anywhere, anytime, with just a gadget and an internet connection. Through Internet Marketing, people with disabilities can achieve financial independence, and even create job opportunities, both for themselves and for others around them, thereby securing a more dignified livelihood.   Therefore, the talk show speakers, such as Ridha DM Wirakusumah – President Director of PermataBank, Mandra Primanta Pandelaki - CMO of Bang Joni, M. Mufid Luthfi - CMO and Co-founder of IDCloudHost.com, and M. Ikhwan Tariqo - Founder of Kartunet & Internet Marketing master, will be accompanied by Dimas Muharam – CEO & Founder of Kartunet, who will serve as the moderator. It is hoped that this talk show will motivate participants to utilize online media as a business opportunity and enthusiastically follow the 3-month I’M BRAVE online course.   Ridha DM Wirakusumah – President Director of PermataBank stated, “We are very pleased to initiate the BRAVE program and support the organization of the online I’M (Internet Marketing) BRAVE course with Kartunet. From our experience providing employment opportunities for the visually impaired in Telesales, they are resilient, independent individuals who do not wish to be treated specially. Some of them even have outstanding performance compared to their non-disabled colleagues.”   “Therefore, following up on what we pioneered in the previous year, we fully support KartuNet's initiative to create the online I’M (Internet Marketing) BRAVE course program so that people with disabilities in Indonesia can achieve financial independence and compete and excel like any other individual. In this way, we can maintain our commitment to supporting people with disabilities,” concluded Ridha.   Meanwhile, Dimas Muharam - CEO & Founder of Kartunet explained, “As it reaches its 12th year, Kartunet consistently serves as a leading platform for the disability community to create. Innovation after innovation has been launched to meet the needs of people with disabilities, adapted to the challenges of the times. One such innovation is the creation of the online I’M (Internet Marketing) BRAVE course, fully supported by PermataBank.”   150 people with disabilities, particularly the visually impaired, will participate in the online I’M (Internet Marketing) BRAVE course for free. They come not only from Jakarta and its surrounding areas but also from various other provinces across Indonesia. This online course will take place on the Kartunet website at https://kursus.kartunet.com for three months, covering topics such as introduction to internet marketing, basic copywriting, blog creation, financial literacy, and successfully selling products on e-commerce platforms. The material format has been adapted to be accessible and understandable for visually impaired screen reader users, including: article text, audio tutorials, and live streaming webinars.   For more information, please contact:
