UNNES Hosts Inclusive Education Seminar

The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Education (BEM FIP) of Semarang State University organized a NATIONAL INCLUSIVE EDUCATION SEMINAR themed “Innovation in Inclusive Education for the Implementation of Curriculum 2013”. This seminar was part of a series of events to celebrate Education Month 2014. The seminar was held on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the UNNES Auditorium Building. Speakers included Prof. Dr. Furqon Hidayatullah, M.Pd (Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Sebelas Maret), Galuh Sukmara Soejanto, S. Psi. (Deaf, deaf studies and sign linguistics L.A Trube University Australia), and Mukhanif Yasin Yusuf (Founder of the Students Activity Unit of Diffable Care, Head of UKM Peduli Diffabel Universitas Gadjah Mada). The objectives of this national inclusive education seminar included: fostering student enthusiasm and awareness towards inclusive education, serving as a medium for socializing innovations in inclusive education within the implementation of Curriculum 2013, realizing the implementation of Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the national education system, Article 4 Paragraph 1, and Ministerial Regulation Number 70 of 2009 concerning inclusive education for students with disabilities and those with intellectual potential and/or special talents, and as an effort to cultivate student empathy for people with disabilities, as well as preparing students to compete and face educational challenges. The seminar was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M. Pd, Assistant Rector for Student Affairs at UNNES, concurrently with the Launching of the ABK Care Community by BEM FIP UNNES.
