These institutions aim to develop individual potential through a structured teaching and learning process. 1.1. Formal Educational Institutions Formal educational institutions are systematically structured educational institutions with clear curricula recognized by the government. Examples of formal educational institutions include: Primary schools (SD) Junior high schools (SMP) Senior high schools (SMA) Universities and colleges 1.2. Informal Educational Institutions Informal educational institutions refer to learning activities that occur naturally in daily life without a structured curriculum. Informal education often takes place at home and in the surrounding environment. Examples of informal education include: Family education Learning from life experiences Learning from social interactions 1.3. Non-Formal Educational Institutions Non-formal educational institutions are institutions that provide education outside the formal education system. These institutions have more flexible curricula and often focus on practical skills. Examples of non-formal educational institutions include: Skill courses (such as computer courses, language courses, sewing) Job training Community learning activity centers (PKBM)

  1. Roles of Each Educational Institution
    • Role of Formal Educational Institutions

Academic Development: Providing academic knowledge and basic skills to students. Character Building: Teaching moral values and ethics through school activities. Career Preparation: Equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue higher education or enter the workforce.

  • Role of Informal Educational Institutions

Lifelong Learning: Encouraging individuals to continuously learn and develop outside the school environment.

  • Character Education: Teaching cultural, moral, and ethical values through daily interactions.

Social Development: Helping individuals develop social skills and interpersonal relationships. 2.3. Role of Non-Formal Educational Institutions Skill Development: Providing training and courses that help individuals develop practical skills useful in daily life or careers.

  • Second Chance: Providing opportunities for those who could not complete formal education to still receive an education.

Innovation and Creativity: Facilitating more flexible and innovative learning tailored to community needs.

  1. Relationship Between Formal, Informal, and Non-Formal Education

Formal, informal, and non-formal education complement and support each other in the lifelong learning process. The relationship among the three can be explained as follows: Complementary: Formal education provides a strong academic foundation, while informal and non-formal education complement it with practical skills and life learning.

  • Flexibility: Non-formal education offers flexibility in terms and curriculum, allowing individuals to continue learning beyond the confines of formal education.

Lifelong Learning: Informal education ensures that learning does not cease after leaving formal institutions but continues throughout life. The importance of these three types of education is to create individuals who are knowledgeable, skilled, and of good character, ready to face the challenges of the modern world. Thus, the combination of formal, informal, and non-formal education can result in holistic and comprehensive education. Education is a crucial aspect of human life. There are three types of education that play different roles in improving the quality of education: formal, non-formal, and informal education. Formal education, conducted in schools or universities, provides the knowledge and skills needed for the workplace and daily life. However, non-formal and informal education are also very important in developing the potential of the younger generation and shaping good character. What synergy exists among these three types of education in improving the quality of education? How do formal, non-formal, and informal education contribute to improving the quality of education? What synergy exists among these three types of education in improving the quality of education? CHAPTER II DISCUSSION Education is a crucial aspect of human life. There are three types of education that play different roles in improving the quality of education: formal, non-formal, and informal education. Formal education, conducted in schools or universities, provides the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace and daily life. Through structured and systematic curricula, students gain in-depth academic education and technical skills relevant to various fields of work. Non-formal education involves course institutions, training centers, study groups, and other similar activities. This education is very important in developing the potential of the younger generation. Through non-formal education, individuals can choose the type of education that suits their interests and talents. This allows for the development of creativity and the acquisition of new experiences that might not be gained through formal education. For example, language courses, technical skill training, or other self-development programs. Informal education occurs outside school or university environments, such as within the family or surrounding community. This education plays a vital role in shaping the character of the younger generation. Through daily interactions with family, friends, and society, the younger generation acquires values and norms prevalent in society. Informal education also helps foster a sense of nationalism and social responsibility, which are essential for building good and resilient character. Overall, these three types of education complement each other and contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals, in terms of knowledge, skills, and character. CHAPTER III CONCLUSION Conclusion Formal, non-formal, and informal education each have different contributions to improving the quality of education. Formal education provides the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace and daily life. Non-formal education offers opportunities to develop the potential of the younger generation according to their interests and talents. Informal education shapes the character of the younger generation through the values and norms prevalent in society. REFERENCES Salsabilla Nur Atiqah.
