Kartuneters, as one of Indonesia's earliest online disability communities, Kartunet recently undertook numerous updates to its official website at www.kartunet.com. These updates encompass various significant changes to the website's appearance and features. One of the biggest changes is the addition of a forum feature. This feature allows users to ask questions, discuss, and share information on various topics. Furthermore, every page is now equipped with accessibility features that make it easier for Kartuneters to navigate and customize the display according to their needs. For this update, Kartunet collaborated with Kresuber Digital, a digital agency specializing in professional website development. Through its founder, Febri Suryanto, Kresuber Digital greatly assisted us with effective communication in determining essential features, especially those related to accessibility for screen readers used by visually impaired users of screen reader applications. To learn more about Kresuber Digital, Kartuneters can access Kresuber's page here. Dimas Muharam, co-founder of Kartunet, expressed gratitude for this collaboration, citing the knowledge transfer and exchange of experience during the development process. "Initially, I contacted a senior from my university and also the owner of Kontenesia.com, Ramadoni, to see if there was anyone who could help Kartunet improve the website's appearance and performance. He then shared it with the WordPress user community in Indonesia, and Febri from Kresuber volunteered to help." The WordPress Meetup Serang, Banten, enthusiast was very open to hearing our desire to revitalize the Kartunet.com website to be more accessible for visually impaired users, while still being visually comfortable for sighted users. "This collaboration led to an exchange of experience between us, the visually impaired, who have some knowledge of web coding and using the WordPress content management system (CMS) but faced challenges with the website's visual appearance. We were assisted by Febri, who simultaneously gained direct experience building an accessible website, which we, as users, immediately tested for accessibility," said Dimas. Several visually impaired friends, members of the Kartunet community, shared their experiences browsing the Kartunet website after its revamp by Kresuber. "I think the website is more accessible and its appearance is simple," commented Satria in the Kartunet Club WhatsApp group. Prima echoed this sentiment. "The website is more responsive. The menus are also easy to access," said Prima via voice message. We hope these various improvements will further facilitate Kartuneters in accessing the features provided on the website. Whether they want to publish their writings on the website, listen to podcasts, learn about accessible technology, or discuss and develop themselves together in the forum. We extend our special thanks to Febri and the Kresuber team for their wholehearted dedication and patience in delivering a comfortable appearance and performance for the Kartunet website for all Kartuneters. Our hope is that, leading up to Kartunet's two-decade journey in 2026, Kartunet can provide even greater benefits and become a leading information portal for the disability community in Indonesia.
