Abdul Rahman[/caption] Tamiang Layang - Education in madrasahs is expected not only to transfer knowledge, technology, and art, but also to produce citizens with a high awareness of their nation and humanity. This can be achieved by changing the way individuals and community groups think, live, and work, in order to initiate necessary social changes and encourage progress. The Head of the Religious Affairs Office for East Barito stated that the orientation of education should not only focus on the mastery of knowledge values, but also actively prepare students as responsible citizens and members of society. "So that we do not fall behind other nations, Indonesian national education needs to be developed in line with future educational changes," explained the Head of the Religious Affairs Office. To this end, through the strategic function of the 2013 curriculum, teachers develop abilities so that the character and potential of students become individuals who are faithful and devoted to God Almighty, possess noble character, are healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, and become democratic and responsible citizens.
