Jakarta - It's certainly frustrating to receive unwanted SMS or messages from unknown numbers. What's worse, these incoming messages are sometimes misleading or even fraudulent, such as information about unsecured loans (KTA), soft loans, lottery winnings, etc. However, for iPhone users, there's no need to worry. With a simple feature on this Apple device, you can get rid of these "junk" messages.
Please note, this method has been tested on iOS 7. For users of previous iOS versions, a similar approach can be tried. First, every time you receive such an unwanted SMS, save the number in a single contact entry. For example, name it 'Credit Devil'. Then, go to Settings on your iPhone, find Messages, and tap on "Blocked". Tap Add New and select the contact you just created named 'Credit Devil'.
Done, and you will be free from subsequent SMS messages from that number. The principle behind this trick is that your iPhone will block SMS, phone calls, and FaceTime from numbers added to this list. However, this method also has a drawback because junk SMS senders usually use many different numbers. So, every time you receive a new junk SMS from an unknown number, immediately add it to the previously created 'Credit Devil' contact entry.
Then, SMS from that same number will no longer come through. Additionally, this trick can also be used to block unwanted numbers from contacting you, such as ex-partners or persistent debt collectors :D. Although quite simple, there's no harm in trying this trick. At the very least, it will reduce the frequency of receiving junk SMS from the same number.
If you have a more effective method or know of a good app that can block junk messages, feel free to share the information in the comments section.(DPM)
