b. Characteristics of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Children exhibit impulsivity, restlessness, demanding behavior, minimal need for sleep, always waking up before others, disrupting objects in their surroundings, constant movement, ceaselessly exploring entire rooms, talking to friends while they are doing tasks, being solitary, disobedient children at home, school, or in their surroundings, inattention, temper tantrums, and hyperactivity considered inconsistent with their developmental level (Nevid, 2002). c. Types of ADHD: The APA (in Nevid, 2002) explains that there are several types of ADHD, namely: 1. predominantly inattentive type, 2. predominantly hyperactive or impulsive type, 3. combined type characterized by inattention and high hyperactivity. d. Causes of ADHD: From a theoretical perspective (Nevid, 2002), although the exact cause of ADHD is not yet known, biological factors, prenatal factors, and environmental factors appear to influence a child developing ADHD. e. Management: Children with ADHD can be managed by engaging them in conversation, using medication, and modifying the child's behavior (e.g., training the child in self-talk through academic problem-solving stages). f.
