Poem: Because You Exist

The Earth bears witness, the place where I prostrate, pouring out all my woes. So close I call. So narrow is the distance that separates us. You and I, have never met. But your name I always utter in prayer. With every prostration, I whisper softly, stirring my soul with all my heart, asking for you from the Almighty Giver of love. Sometimes I ask: Why you? All this time I never realized that you exist and are so near. This confined world I still cannot fully traverse. So close, yet I never felt it. But now I can perceive, feeling my heart that increasingly yearns without direction. It turns out, there is a feeling there. Emerging slowly, like a lantern gently approaching. Slowly but surely, that feeling, it turns out, grows stronger. I did not intend to ignite this feeling, until it so completely dominated my heart. But love is hard to control. I cannot guard my own heart. But thank you, because of you I realized, no need to search further for love, because you exist. I don't need to fly towards love; love itself came to me so close. I was just late in realizing it. But it's not too late to grasp it. Thank you, because you exist. Though we never meet face to face, I entrust my love in prostration, entreating the Owner of hearts, the Giver of love, to unite us in a lawful bond blessed by Him.
