Jakarta, Kartunet.com — Since Research In Motion Limited (RIM) rebranded to BlackBerry and launched its latest operating system, BB10, it seemed that the rapidly growing number of BlackBerry users relying on screen readers would be disappointed. This was because the BlackBerry Screen Reader application, developed by RIM in March 2012, only worked on BlackBerry devices running OS7. Furthermore, many features in the current version of BlackBerry Screen Reader could not be optimized, with its development halted at BlackBerry Screen Reader 1.0.0.16.
However, there's good news! Although there was no further development on the BlackBerry Screen Reader application, BlackBerry has made accessibility adjustments to the latest version of the BlackBerry Messenger application, version 7.0.1.23. Previously, in the Recent Update menu, BlackBerry Screen Reader would only announce numerical codes, meaning that to find out Recent Updates from BBM Contacts, we had to open another application, Social Feed. But with the update to the latest BlackBerry Messenger, we no longer need to leave the BlackBerry Messenger window to monitor status updates, change display pictures, or chat with our awesome BBM contacts!
Curious? Update BlackBerry Messenger to version 7.0.1.23 immediately via BlackBerry AppWorld on your BlackBerry device! (MIT)
