Jakarta - Last February, BlackBerry released the latest version of BBM for all, version 2.0, which included the BBM Voice feature. The Canadian company continues to develop its flagship application, and BBM Voice is now available on Android and iOS. BBM Voice is a feature that was already present on BlackBerry handsets, allowing fellow BBM users to make voice calls over a Wi-Fi network. On BBM for Android and iOS, it no longer uses a BB subscription plan system, unlike on BlackBerry handsets. On both operating systems, BBM directly uses internet signals from a Wi-Fi network or data plan. Therefore, the arrival of BBM Voice was truly only a matter of time. Actually, BlackBerry added two features to BBM version 2.0: BBM Voice and BBM Channel. BBM Channel is a feature similar to Yahoo Messenger's Chat Room, which users can use to connect with other BBM users who share similar interests. Within BBM Channel, BBM users can chat without having to invite a PIN. To use the BBM Voice feature, please update your BBM application first. For iPhone users, follow the new update notification available in the App Store. Next, a Voice Call button will appear next to the name in the chat box. If you tap there, BBM will make a voice call to the chat contact. Alternatively, you can first go into the chat contact's profile, then tap the Call button. If the BBM user being called is not connected to Wi-Fi, the BBM Voice call will fail. However, this feature update in BBM also affected the BBM interface. Particularly on iOS, it is now somewhat difficult to invite a BB PIN. The tab that usually leads to the invite option does not appear if there are no pending invitations from other people. The trick is to keep at least one pending invitation from someone you haven't approved, so the option to go to 'Invite' remains visible. Other than that, there are no significant changes. For iOS users, the PING feature or sending images to other BBM users is still inaccessible. Yet, this feature works well in the Android version of BBM. Hopefully, in the next update, BlackBerry will pay more attention to accessibility, especially now that BBM Voice is available on Android and iOS. If anyone has tried the feature and would like to share, please do so in the comments section. (DPM)
