Jakarta, Kartunet - Amidst the uproar from iPhone users complaining about iOS 8, it turns out there's an addition to the dictation feature, which now supports Indonesian. With this, users can write SMS messages or other texts in Indonesian simply by dictating them to their iPhone device. The dictation feature is a built-in iPhone function that allows users to type messages simply by speaking word by word.

With the default English keyboard, you could only dictate messages in English. The pronunciation of each word had to be precise for the iPhone to recognize and transcribe it correctly. Meanwhile, words spoken in other languages would not be recognized, and similar English vocabulary would be used instead. In this iOS 8 update, there's an addition of a virtual keyboard: Indonesian.

Command descriptions on the keyboard are written in Indonesian, such as 'hapus' replacing 'delete,' and 'kembali' replacing 'return.' When you press the dictation button, your words spoken in Indonesian will be accurately transcribed by the iPhone. For VoiceOver users or the visually impaired, this dictation feature is highly beneficial for shortening typing time.

When wanting to write relatively long sentences with a standard format, this dictation feature is very helpful. Simply double-tap the screen with two fingers, and the dictation feature will be activated, allowing you to speak the sentence you wish to write. The condition is that word-by-word pronunciation must be accurate, and appropriate intonation should be used for correct punctuation.

If you have already updated to iOS 8, please add the Indonesian keyboard to your device. To do this, go to Settings >> General >> Keyboard. In the keyboard options, find 'Indonesia' and then add it. In use, you can select the keyboard type by tapping the 'Next Keyboard' option on your virtual keyboard. Happy trying and writing! (DPM)
